In cold climates, fireplaces keep people warm through the long winter months.

Constant force springs are used in fireplace doors because of their long constant force stroke. High temperatures are a technical bottleneck in the application of strip springs. It requires a very high level of technology and a different design and process technology than normal springs in order to maintain a constant force at high temperatures for a long time.

When designing or specifying constant force springs, many basic engineering parameters need to be considered. Material, fatigue life, tensile load, torque and friction, speed and acceleration, mounting, safety considerations and application environment are all key factors.
